Eclipse had thought over it for a long time. The task handed to him was vague one. Create chaos. What exactly did that mean? How could he get away with it? Should he just start a fire? He plotted, and plotted, but nothing came to mind. Nothing significant anyway. Finally, deciding to take a break, he picked up a simple comic book to take his mind off things. That's when he knew what he had to do.

Since then, his plot was several weeks in the making. Discord had given him so much power, and had asked so little in return. Just create chaos. So far he had delivered nothing. He knew Discord was not the usual client, but anyone would start to think twice about a deal like this, but today all of that would change. Today was the first step towards Eclipse's grand scheme.

He knew it was today the moment he heard the transmission come in over the police transceiver.

"All units, all units, we have a 211S on 374 Mane Street. Please respond," The voice droned out the code, but there was a sense of urgency in the dispatcher's voice.

When he heard this, Eclipse immediately looked up from his text book and stopped lifting the dumbbell in his left hand. He turned to the small radio like device and turned up its volume. Several units responded to the call with similar pressing importance. 211, that was code for robbery. The S meant a silent alarm. He put down the weight and picked up the transceiver, licking his lips. Mane street. Wasn't there a bank on that street?

This was it. This was what he was waiting for. He immediately sprang into action. He knew he had precious little time to act. He quickly looked around, as he tried to remember everything he had planned. He opened his door and turned to the young maid waiting outside.

"Miss Berry Green, no disturbances tonight... I'm going to be-" Oh drat, what was that excuse he came up with. Ah, there was no time.

"-doing things! Ah, uh yeah... I'm going to be doing things, and I'll need my privacy," he quickly blurted out without thinking, before retreating back into his room and closing his doors.

"Ah, oh-of course, young sir..." The maid responded with wide eyes. She immediately turned away and began walking away from her post. They usually didn't barge into his room without his consent, but he had to be sure tonight, since he wouldn't be home today. She supposed he was just reaching that age.

Eclipse had more important things on his mind. He quickly opened up the two talls glass doors and moved out onto the balcony. There he looked around to made sure no one was around as he moved his hand up to push his glasses up into place on his nose. When he was sure no one could see him, he removed his hand from his glasses and activated his Disharmonizer. He felt a surge of magical energy flow into. The shadow underneath him became darker. It slowly began moving up his feet and legs. His glasses began to shift and change. The left lenses popped out and grew in size. It moved to float above his head. As it did, he began to lift up off the ground, a trail of dark magic stretching up from the ground underneath him. He grunted with effort and stretched out as the black shadow began to cover his entire body. He curled up at first, tensing all of his muscles. Then finally, he let out a roar as he opened up to reveal his new form. The black shadow had transformed his clothes into a fully black double breasted suit, and his glasses had transformed into a silver mask accented by a single horn.

He breathed heavily and looked to his hands, now covered in thin black gloves. The power he felt was intense. He shook with anticipation. It was still new to him to know that he was floating above the ground, but there was no time to marvel at this. He had a job to do. He looked up towards the setting sun, where he swore he could hear sirens off in the distance.

Using his tactile telekinesis, he found that could apply magical force to anything he touched, or directly to his own body itself. Keeping that in mind, he forced himself to not be afraid of the distant ground bellow. He let himself float down to the balcony just enough so that his outstretched foot could touchdown. His toes pressed down against the floor, and with that he let out a surge of magical energy that propelled him up, up, and away.

Now flying high up in the air, he threw out a fist upwards. As he did he channeled his magical energies to move his amplify his body's upwards momentum to continue defying gravity. He began shifting forward towards his destination. The wind rushed past him, the clouds were so close, the ground so far. It was exhilarating. He was creating pseudo flight by using tactile telekinesis to move his entire body. He flew towards the setting sun, moving in front of it in the sky.

So far the evening had been rather quiet for Sunset Shimmer. After school she had hung out with the girls for a bit, finished up her homework, and was now just generally wandering the streets. Not exactly the most exciting thing, but it was better than just staying at home. Besides, it at least gave her an excuse for some window shopping, maybe find some gifts for her friends. Friends gave each other gifts just because, right? At some point she was probably going to need to ask about it, but it seemed appropriate enough. Rarity would probably be the one most appreciative of the effort anyway; she seemed the most materialistic of the group. And Sunset doubted Fluttershy would ever object to a gift, though most likely she would probably believe she owed Sunset one as well. Pinkie Pie most likely would already have a gift for Sunset, using whatever kind of forbidden magic that Sunset was sure that pink-colored ball of energy inadvertently tapped into. But as for the other two, Rainbow Dash and Applejack? She wasn’t sure exactly how they would react, but she was sure they wouldn’t mind.

”So that just leaves the question of what to get them then…” she mumbled to herself, taking a glance at a storefront window.

She gently brushed some hair out of her face, recalling that not too long ago she had been a pony again for ever so brief a moment. Even if by now she had basically settled on this form, that brief reminder of her old life had caused her to get a little nostalgic. Having that instant access to magic that came from being a unicorn was also rather nice. All she had to that now was the Harmonizer, although Sunset had begun to wonder if it would be possible to access that magic outside of it. Human or pony, she was still a magical prodigy after all.

Her thoughts, however, were quickly interrupted by the sound of sirens as several police cars sped by. While equipped for dealing with magical threats, Sunset wasn’t eager to intervene in more mundane crimes. Still, as one never knew when one was the other, she believed it her duty to at least check it out.

”So much for gift-shopping then…” she mumbled in annoyance as she ran off towards wherever the police had headed towards.

The police cars spend towards the bank on Mane. They quickly scrambled to setup a formation around the front of the bank. Some officers ran towards the armored truck parked out front, but they suddenly froze when some shouting men burst out of the front of the bank. They dragged their hostage over towards the truck and screamed for the police to get away from it.

The armored truck probably had more money in it than what the bank robbers had gotten from the tellers. Valuing the hostage’s life more, the officers reluctantly moved away from it. They were instructed to leave the engine running. As soon as they had complied, the bank robbers climbed into the truck shouting cheers of victory.

Their driver slammed on the gas. Feeling quite helpless, the police stood their ground for as long as they could. A few had to dive away as the truck slammed into the parked cars, pushing through a small gap between two of them.

Eclipse couldn’t help but feel like they all looked just like ants from this height. He was floating up high above the scene below, obscured by the sun that he kept above him. Gravity was a constant pull. It didn't get more powerful the more you resisted. As long as you weren’t already falling and picking up speed, you’d only need a counter balance of so much power to offset the pull of your weight to float. He was getting a little used to it. He hadn't much practice really. At first it was just himself in his room testing what he could lift up and for how long. He had started with small objects. Then he moved on to bigger ones. Eventually he could move himself. Then he could move himself and his master sized bed. Then he was lifting all his furniture at once.

He took in a deep breath. It was finally time to put all that training and plotting to work.

Like the rest of the crowd that had gathered as close as they could, Sunset Shimmer was pressed up against the blockade trying to see what was going on. From whatever scraps of information she was getting, it seemed there was a bank robbery occurring with hostages. Rather high level crime, but there wasn’t much that Sunset Shimmer could do about it. Sure, technically her magic could be of help, but those were more for battling the forces of chaos. Crime, well, that was more the duty of the police. Besides, they were better trained for these sort of situations; her own intervention would probably just cause a lot more problems than help.

Sighing, Sunset put her hands into her jacket pocket and began to make her way out of the area. It seemed there wasn’t anything magical going on here at all. Just your normal kind of crime, as odd as that phrase sounded.

The police shouted in vain as the armored truck pushed past their blockade and proceeded to drive off. They scrambled into their patrol cars and quickly sped off after it, but there was little they could do to safely bring it to a halt. Despite this, they were not letting them get away. Eventually, they'd run out of gas and the police could slowly approach that situation. These bank robbers weren't as smart as they might seem. Despite all the excitement and commotion, it was actually quite orderly.

Every now and then someone is stupid enough to try and rob a bank, though rarely. The cops don't let criminals like these get away. The news would report on it. The people go 'oh' and 'ah', but it won't affect the majority of them in any way. This was just part of modern society, and people were used to it. The main factor to consider here, is that people in general understand 'bank robbers'. It's pretty clear what their motivations are and what they hope to gain. They also know that they're protected from this threat for the most part. There are plenty of security measures and procedures in place. Furthermore, most people can assess the amount of losses they'd suffer from such a crime. There are backups and grants in place to support the victims.

This is order. People understand it, and know what roughly what will happen. There is no confusion and little fear of the unknown. Everything is clear, cut and dry, boring. There is no chaos here.

"Looks like this is a job for a magic man," he mused to himself behind his mask.

The men were celebrating their successful heist, driving the stolen armored truck when suddenly one screamed out.

"Look out!" he pointed past the driver where a man in a black suit an odd mask was now standing in the middle of the lane.

"Some freak!" "Avoid him you idiot!" "There's no room in the road!" They began screaming and shouting to each other in confusion. Just a hint of the chaos that was sure to come next. There were buildings, and parked cars, and incoming traffic, so there was no avoiding the man in the road. Of course they couldn't stop, not with the cops hot on their tail.

"Then ram him," The bank robbers were silenced by their leader.

The man in the road stood his ground as the screaming metal death came barreling down on him. Of course he had second thoughts. He was new to all this magic stuff. Did he have enough power? His life was on the line. Should he quit now, while he was alive? All he'd have to do is step aside. Quickly run out of the road.

No.

That would be surrender. That would be retreat. That would hurt his pride.

He would rather die.

As the truck was driving towards him, it became shrouded in a dark shadow aura. It was his influence. He slowed it down considerably, but his telekinesis wasn't particular powerful. Instead, his true power was in Tactile Telekinesis. He had practiced this. He knew what he was capable of. He grit his teeth. He couldn't fail. He wouldn't allow himself to. He reared back his right fist, gathering up a swell of dark magical power that radiated off of his fist. Then, just before impact, he stepped forward with his left foot and threw his right fist forward in a full bodied right straight. He leaned into it, put all of the strength his body could give and poured all the magical power he could muster up into one single strike.

As his fist collided with the truck, it erupted with a blast of immense magical energy, that brought the truck to an immediate halt. The impact released a shock wave of power that shattered the windows of nearby cars and set off car alarms. He had completely wrecked the front metal plates, and the rear end lifted up into the air on impact. Most of the bank robbers inside where thrown into the bullet proof glass, and the driver slammed into the inflating emergency air bag.

As the truck slowly came back to earth, Eclipse could hardly believe it. He was breathing heavy from the sheer intensity of it all. Even though it was just one punch, he felt drained. He had to summon up and spend a huge chunk of his magical reserves to stop the truck, even after slowing it down with regular telekinesis. He let the adrenaline and fear slowly drain out of him, without moving. The men in the truck began to groan in pain, not sure what had hit them. Though, how could they guess it was a magic man?

The sound of approaching sirens woke Eclipse from his trance. It dawned on him that he could have died if one thing had gone wrong. He put a hand to his face and rested against the ruined truck before him. He made a mental note to not put himself in such risky situations in the future, but right now he had a job to focus on.

That's right. His plan was just beginning. The real chaos starts now.

Before the police arrive, he reached down and gripped the underside of the trunk, as well as the hood. Just a little more. Again the truck became shrouded with a dark shadowy aura. Slowly, but surely the truck began to lift up in the air. He grimaced with effort, as he lifted the truck above him. Then he touched off the ground and began to float towards the oncoming police. The police cars screeched to a halt, and the police stepped out of their cars with a look of awe on their face.

"I believe, this belongs to you," Eclipse announced in a triumphant tone.

While originally she had no intention of getting involved or showing interest in the bank robbery, Sunset Shimmer began to get the sense that something was amiss. There was a sense in the air that just made everything seem…off-kilter. Honestly she wished she could explain it better, but sometimes when dealing with magic it seemed vagueness was about the best you were ever going to get. But she was confident that magic was being used; that kind of almost static-like feeling in the air was definitely a sign. And of course it had to be coming from the direction of the bank robbers.

What, did Discord need to make a withdrawal or something? she thought, wondering about the possibility that maybe Discord had empowered some bank robbers for some reason. Would make sense; if you wanted chaos spread, who better to offer magic to than criminals?

Seeing as the police were starting to get a handle on the situation, however, if she was going to look into this she was going to need to stay hidden. Taking advantage of the alleyways, Sunset made her way in the direction of the magic just in time to see some boy lift the stolen truck into the air and make a triumphant one liner that seemed more like it belonged in a cheesy comic book than in real life.

Wait, so it wasn’t the bank robbers using magic?

Crap, that was going to make this whole situation a lot harder. Revealing magic was already a rather dangerous game; as it was now there was a good chance the memories would fade and distort enough basic rationalizations would do the rest. But if this punk was deciding to go around playing superhero, things could get really bad really fast. Unfortunately, till he was alone there was nothing she could do about. For now, all she could do was stay hidden in her alley and look annoyed at him.

All eyes seemed focused on him. All eyes except his own, of course. He scanned the crowd from behind his mask. There he saw her. Little miss princess of the dance. There she was in the dark alleyway. Hiding in the shadows, too afraid to challenge him while he stood in the light. A smile spread across his face.

He set the truck back down on the ground, but did so upside down. It was in no state to drive away, but like this the criminals would surely not be able to escape. Furthermore, it would take hours for the truck to be rremoved by traffic officials, disrupting traffic. Until, then, it'd serve as a reminder of what he'd done and what he was. That was were the true chaos lay. What he was, and this whole stunt was to announce to the world what he was.

"W-what- who are you?" the police officer first to approach him asked.

"Do not fear, Officer. I am simply... a Magically Magic Man," Eclipse answered. He was still floating, and had his fists on his hips, with his chest puffed out.

After the initial shock wore off, one of the police officers managed to stammer out an order. He pointed out that they'd need to take a statement from him. To which, he complied. That was exactly what he wanted. To make a statement. He was very compliant and forthcoming, but he didn't actually give any information about himself other than that he was a magic man, here to save the day. From what they, and the people on the streets, saw they believed him for the most part.

Eventually, the news crews showed up. The police informed him he was free to go, and that he should probably leave before the news crews hounded him, but of course he opted to stay.

“Greetings, Citizens. Do not be alarmed. I am simply, a Magical Magic Man,” He again announced to the news crews as they took pictures and shot video. They shouted questions to him, barking over each other. So many questions. So much doubt. So much confusion. He took a moment to marvel in this. The small crowd that had formed around him, shouting and clamoring for answers was just a sneak peak of the chaos he was unleashing onto the world.

He then took his time to answer a few more questions, though again he gave little actual information. He'd only make it clear of what he was. A magic man. One who could do things that normal men could only dream of. He'd make that clear so that no amount of vague fading memories or rationalization short of complete mind manipulation, could undo his work. Giving out answers was an odd method to create confusion. Surely Discord could appreciate odd methods. Truthfully, the answers he gave only created more questions.

The questions, the lack of answers, it would create doubt within the hearts of men. Their doubt would create distrust. In the end, fear will destroy the peace of their minds.

In place of understanding and order, there would now be confusion and Chaos.

Just what was this kid doing? Not only was he using magic out in the open, he was bragging about it and telling the news all about it. So much for secrecy, although at least if it was being show it was in a relatively heroic fashion. And, well, she couldn’t exactly blame a person who got magic powers for all of a sudden to want to use them for superheroics.

The question, then, is where exactly did he get these powers? She doubted he had any ties to the Elements of Harmony, though she couldn’t be exactly quite sure. That would leave him working for Discord as being the only other option, but till she could get the chance to talk to him there was little that she could do. But if he did work for Discord, well, she could probably say bravo for going out of his way to do something like this….whatever it was.

Actually, how was a superhero supposed to create chaos? Reveal magic? Eh, that would probably get some people riled up, but even when facing the obvious it wouldn’t take long before people tried to come up with some kind of “scientific” explanation. Or claim it was all staged or whatever. Rationalization was a powerful thing after all. He would have to keep doing this over and over again to really make sure it would stick, but becoming a hero to spread chaos seemed kind of counter-productive in her eyes.

Whatever was going on, she was sure to find out the moment he was freed from the media…
