On the hunt for a Rarity.

Lyra scanned the cafeteria looking for her intended target. This time it wasn't Bon Bon. She wanted to get some guest speakers for the podcast, and for that she needed students who knew what they were talking about. There was someone that quickly came to the musician's mind.  A girl who could probably fill two episodes of time with talk. She'd also probably say yes if asked nicely.

That girl was Rarity.

Normally Lyra avoided Rarity when possible. Her limited and sometimes worn wardrobe had drawn the fashionista's attention on more than one occasion. Each time she refused the girls offer for help. Now she had to go to her with an offer. Putting on a good show for all the listeners was more important than her fear of being kidnapped, thrown into a dressing room, and handed dress after dress to try on. Nice clothes were a luxury, right now Lyra needed stuff that was either inexpensive or indestructible.

Lyra approached Rarity's table, and stood opposite of her. Lyra was dressed in a pair of jeans the had a small hole in the left knee, and her black hoodie had a light dusting of flour on it. In her hands was a metal lunchbox which had obviously seen years and years of use, and more than a few tumbles. It was adorned with images from an old cartoon, Thundercats.

"Hey Rarity, is this seat taken? I thought maybe I could have lunch with you today." she asked, waiting for her permission before sitting down.

Rarity was drawing a design in her sketch book. She had been working on a new look for the summer break. Though the design was eluding her at the moment, not having a completely cohesive look yet. How, oh HOW was she going to glam on the beach without the perfect swimwear (not that she would be swimming mind you).As she was starting on a new bottom something caught her attention out of her upper perfriffials. When she lifted her head to look at who ever was standing in front of her her eyes went wide and she had a look of utter astonishment. It was Lyra, who wasn't known of being the most fashionable, but she had never looked like this. Holes, some white powder all over her. It was like she grabbed the bottom of the hamper and said lets bake.

Hearing the request to sit, she just politely smiled and used a gesture of the hand to offer the seat. Internally she was screaming and she felt like she might die right there. Normally Lyra would avoid her, probably trying to avoid her fashion advice. Now she was walking right up to her and asking to sit for lunch. Prolonged time that could mean a lot of advice. She was interested in something, but what? "Is there something you would like from me, darlin'?"

Lyra sat down across from Rarity and gave the girl a friendly smile. "Yes and no Rarity. I could use some of your time, but I'm here to give you an invitation." The musician opened up her lunch box and began taking out its contents. She had a bag of Doritos, a lemon-lime soda, a cupcake, and a sandwich. The edges of her sandwich were red with jam... and sported a rainbow of colors from what looked like Fruit Loops. It was like breakfast, in sandwich form!

"Me and Bon Bon were talking, and we decided we wanted to have you on our show. We want you for one or two shows to talk about fashion for the upcoming winter. We could do one episode for women's, and another for men's fashion if you think it'll take more than an hour to go over things. We're allowed wiggle room in time, but we really don't like going over an hour and fifteen."

Lyra popped the tab on her soda, using her hand to shield rarity from any unwanted spray, popped open her bag of chips with a sharp tug, and unwrapped her sandwich. She took a satisfyingly crunchy bite out of her sandwich. "So... want to hear more?"

An invitation. Sure she was used to getting those but not during lunch break or from Lyra. Each invitation was really a surprise all it's own now that she thought about it. Then came the actual details. The show those two put on. She listened to it a few times, but now they wanted her to talk fashion on it. A smile crossed her face and she leaned forward over her design book. "But of course. I would love to come talk on your show. And I'll probably just do one show. More of tips to accentuate your unique look rather than what Paris is hosting."

She picked up her diet drink and took a dainty sip as she noticed the lunch of the other girl. Definitly as hodgepodge as her outfit. As she sat the can down, she removed her glasses and looked right to the other. "There is but two conditions. It might help to show photos of the little tips people can use. The other is you wear this exact outfit. for the show."

Lyra liked Rarity's smile. A smile meant good things. Lyra returned it when Rarity agreed to come on the show. "Tips are good. Something the student body could use." Truth be told sometimes the latest and boldest new designs that would hit fashion runways looked weeeeeiiiiiird. She wasn't about to say that to Rarity though. Many of the things she had seen that were being considered high fashion seemed very uncomfortable to wear.

Rarity mentioned that she had a few conditions. That wasn't uncommon to hear. Some guests had things they specifically wanted to talk about, or specifically not talk about. As long as it was reasonable it'd be fine. "We can do pictures. If they can't be uploaded directly we can make an album and put a link in the show notes."

The second request was the odd one. "I wear jeans and this sweatshirt all the time. It's no problem, but why'd you want something like that?" No sooner did the words leave her lips did she realize it. "Wait. You're not suggesting using me as an example are you? I know I'm spunky and cute as a button, but girly stuff isn't really me. Bon Bon's way prettier."

Rarity leaned forward as she realized why pretty quickly."Don't sell yourself short dear. Proper fashion is suited for the wearer not the other way around. Well except for modles like Fleur de Lis." She sighed a bit after the name, thinking about her latest cover. She quickly gathered herself though and returned to Lyra and the conversation fo teh show. "I will admit your fashion sense tends to be more masculine in nature, but the tips are going to be very simple and I have a feeling you will love how it looks afterwards. Of course I will also want to show a few with Bon Bon as well."

"Very simple you say?" Lyra popped open her bag of chips and grabbed a few to munch on. She took the time to think about it. The musician wasn't the type to get all gussied up. Rarity said it'd be simple, and she doubted the girl would force anything on her. On the flip side they'd be on the air when it happened, and it'd look bad if she backed down.

"Okay. I'll go along with everything. It'll look good if there's pictures of all three of us, not just me and Bonnie." she munched on a few more crunchy chips. Lyra popped open her soda to wash it down. She used the condensation on the can to went her finger tips before sucking the cheese dust off of them. After she wiped her fingers off on her sleeve she extended her hand to Rarity.

"Welcome to the show Rarity. On the day you'll come on you'll spend lunch with Bon Bon and I. We'll take you into the recording room and do a small rehearsal to get you comfortable. If you've listened you should know how it goes. One of us will introduce the show and themselves, the other will introduce themselves and mention we have a guest, and that's when you introduce yourself. One of us will ask what you're there for, you'll introduce the topic of the show, and then we'll go into announcements. After that we'll hand you the reigns. We have a clock and a dry-erase board in the room. After so long if you want to take callers just say so."
